(Gratitude Week) He fought…

He Fought…

Somewhere around 1922, the three people in this picture, along with 1-2 other/older family members left their then homes in Russia to “roll the dice” on a better life here in the United States.

It goes without saying that had it not been for their courage, vision, and valor my family as it is would not exist…nor would the families of my brothers or cousins.

It goes without saying that each of us owes these people an unquantifiable amount of gratitude, respect, and love.

It also goes without saying that as incredible as their courage, vision and valor was in the early 1900’s…those same characteristics remained intact and in force for 95 years…

…until that little guy in the middle passed earlier this morning.

He fought to get here (nearly dying on the journey as an infant) …

He fought to be here (a street hustler turned “force of nature”)…

He fought for himself (surviving at least two significant medical conditions)…

He fought for his family (untold stories)…

He fought for every single citizen of this country (5 Bronze Stars).

Uncle Tevie defined an era…

Uncle Tevie was indeed a great man and a special uncle to us all…

Uncle Tevie defined the term “hustler” in the greatest sense of the word.

I am so sad thinking of his passing yet…

I feel so fortunate and proud at the same time that he was my Uncle Tevie and He Fought!
